Red salmon belongs to one of the species of red fish of the salmon family. The average size of this species reaches a length of up to 80 cm, and a weight of 1.5 to 3.5 kg. The red sockeye salmon got its second name for its bright red color during the mating season. And its meat has an intensely red color due to the nutrition of crustaceans colored red with carotenoid pigments. These pigments pass from swallowed crustaceans into sockeye salmon meat. This fish lives in the northern waters of the Pacific Ocean. In Russia, fishing is conducted in the Sea of Okhotsk and the shores of Chukotka.
